3 Traits To Being A Successful Writer

3 Traits To Being A Successful Writer – Spencer Coffman

To be a successful writer, there are three traits that you must have. They are discipline, determination, and motivation. Not only must you have them, you must derive them from your self. You need to be self-disciplined, self-determined, and self-motivated. If you want to succeed at writing then those three qualities are a must. If you don’t have them, then you need to work on developing them. You can develop them if you train yourself. They are habits and habits can be formed if you allow enough time.

A great way to start developing the traits to become a successful writer is to practice writing during a certain time every day. You need to make it a way of life. It has to become a habit for you and a part of your daily routine. If you don’t have a routine then get one because it is very important for helping you stay on track. If you can commit to writing for one-hour every day then you will be surprised how quickly you will hammer out a book. The key is you have to do it. You have to make yourself do it. No one else is going to make you do it because you are your own boss. Be your boss.

The number one habit that will keep your writing on track is consistency. If you can consistently write every day then your writing will progress. That means you need to remove all distractions when you are writing. This is the hardest habit to break. Remove your phone, computer alerts, emails, et cetera. You need to be unplugged from the world while you are writing. The reason is because any little thing that pops up can significantly break your flow. This will be very hard at first but if you keep practicing eventually you will love the solace.

Everything is possible if you have the ability to do it. If you don’t have the ability then you need the desire. The desire comes from being self-disciplined, self-determined, and self-motivated. If you have these three traits then you will be able to consistently work at developing the ability to write. It takes time and perseverance. Notice I’m throwing a lot of big words out there. Being a writer is not easy, that’s why it’s represented with big words and not little words. You must consistently persevere with self-discipline, determination, and motivation if you want to become a successful writer.

This is the best advice you can receive. Consistently put in the time and effort and you will have your book written in no time at all.
