Facebook is growing to become the most popular social networking website on the Internet. What started out as a simple way for college students to connect with each other has grown into something that everyone uses for all aspects of life.
People now use Facebook for virtually everything. You can share calendars, plan events, play games, market your brand, sell anything, buy anything, read the news, stay up on current events, and more!
Individuals of all ages enjoy meeting and communicating with each other on Facebook. It’s no longer like the old days when Facebook first came out and only young people used it as a means to hang out.
No, now everyone is on Facebook.
That means that if you want to market your brand then you need to capture that audience. Facebook has proven that it isn’t simply a fad like MySpace, MSN, Yahoo 360, any of those other social media sites that went through a boom and bust cycle.
No, Facebook is here to stay.
Fill Out All Of Your Profile Information
Chances are pretty good that you already have a Facebook account. However, if you don’t, then create one. After that, make sure you fill in as much of the information as possible, this will you help gain Facebook authority.
It’s up to you whether or not you want to set all of your information so it is available to be seen by the public, your friends, or only yourself. It’s probably best to have your information available to the public so that people will be able to find you.
After all, if you don’t want to be found why even have a Facebook account? In addition, if you are worried about people reading certain information, then don’t put that information online.
It’s really simple. Fill out everything you can with as much detail as possible. Only post things that you want people to see.
Make sure that everything you do is going to help build your online presence and make you look more credible.
You never know who will find your profile and see your posts, especially if you are trying to market yourself to potential customers that you’ve never met before. Rest assured, if you put yourself out there, people will find you and contact you.
Upload Some Good Pictures
Once you have your information entered, take some time and upload some good pictures and place them in a few different albums. People are going to want to get to know you before conducting business with you.
You need to convey trust.
Think about it, if you have the choice of buying a service from two different people one of whom has one picture and virtually no information on his or her profile and the other has lots of nice pictures and well-written information so you can get to know them, who’s going to get your business?
If you want people to like, follow, subscribe, buy, and more then you need to allow them to get to know you. They want to feel like you are a real down to earth person that lives, breathes, and feels like they do. Your profile needs to be filled with life instead of being sterile.
Therefore, don’t be afraid to show your personality. In most cases, it will only help your cause.
Interact With Groups And Pages
After your profile is well done, you should take the time to find some groups to join. Search for some networks that you feel you know about, or would like to learn about. Join the group and then start replying to posts and even posting some things of your own.
Doing so will expand your outreach and your name will be seen by more and more people. These people are all potential customers, connections, or whatever you are seeking. Therefore, try to stay active in the groups so that your name will continue to show up at the top of the feed.
If you are looking for a great tool to help you post to groups take a look at Tools Star. You can also watch my review here. Pilot Poster is also great! You can watch my Pilot Poster review videos here.
Remember to be courteous when posting. Try not to post only when you need something. But make an effort to get on once and a while to browse the feeds and see if there are any questions you can answer.
Try to contribute to the group and help other people. This will help you more than you realize because it will build trust and people will appreciate you a lot more when you help them rather than if you are only posting whenever you need something.
Who knows, you may even come across a post where someone is looking for a service you provide. In that case, you have found a customer who is already prepared to spend the money!
Another great way to gain Facebook authority is to try and find some pages that you can like and follow. Follow them, and every once and a while, drop a comment on one of the posts. Pages are not as interactive as groups because usually, only page administrators can post.
However, it is still good to place a few comments here and there so that people will be able to see your name and experience your knowledge. All of this will go a long way to establish your credibility.
Stick With It And Keep Posting
You may not see immediate results from posting all over the place, and it may seem like you are spending a lot of time doing practically nothing to gain Facebook authority. However, you must get over this mentality.
I know it seems like your posts will merely be buried with the millions of other posts that come after you, but it is still important to keep posting. The reason is that even if people don’t react to your posts, they are still seeing them.
Your posts are being seen and, more importantly, Facebook is cataloging them. That means that if in the future, someone is looking for something along the lines of what you posted, Facebook may serve it up to him or her.
In addition, Facebook is like any other major search website, which means it runs on algorithms. These algorithms are programmed to favor people who are the most active on the site. In addition, if a lot of people are interacting with your content, then the algorithms will favor your content.
Therefore, even if you don’t believe your posts are doing anything, that they are not being seen, they are. Facebook is seeing them and is using them to calculate your value. Nothing happens overnight and after a while, Facebook will notice that you are a good user posting valuable and informative content.
Once that happens, your posts will begin to be seen by more and more people.
