Contests. What are they? How can you be in ’em? And what can they do for you on Steemit? Find out all about contests and what they can do for you coming up next.

Hey guys, my name is Spencer Coffman, thank you for watching this YouTube channel. It’s all about making information known to you. We’ve got software reviews, plugin reviews, online hints and tips, social media how to, and lots of information about how you can be successful on the Steemit blog platform so you can spread your message, grow your following, and start making money online. Today, we are going to talk about contests.

Now Steemit has a lot of different things that you can do, and they’re all in contests. You, they have a tag for it, they’ve got an area you can type trending @contest, or contests, and you’re going to see tons of people posting all of these different things that you can take part in and win something. Now, sometimes you may win physical things, like one time someone gave away a camera, another time someone gave away like a really, really nice like, video recording stuff. Other times, people giveaway speakers, microphones, different things like that. I’ve also seen a lot of giveaways, and this is the most popular contest form, is many people give away things like Steem, SBD or Steem power. That is the most popular contest giveaway. And, along with contests, there are also things called challenges.

Now challenges, they usually don’t award something, but sometimes they do. It depends, but contests usually always have some kind of a prize or a reward, challenges are usually just like “I challenge everybody.” It was like that thing on Facebook a while back, where everybody took a cold ice bucket and dumped it on them. You know, and it was the whatever called the Ice Challenge, or, like another really popular one was that ghost pepper Dorito chip thing, the coffin Grim Reaper deal, that you’d eat one of those chips, and apparently it would, could probably kill you or something.

Those are just challenges that you know, you don’t really get anything, except a little bit of publicity, and people laugh at it or something. But contests are something that I really recommend you check out once in awhile, and take the time to participate in ’em, because you can have contests on anything.

I’ve personally seen contests where you can do things like you can write a poem, they have a contest for poetry, write a story, write an experience in your life about XYZ, you can take a picture. They have like, challenges or contests where you take a picture of something green, or what’s your best scenery, or your favorite childhood memory. They all kinds of different contests on Steemit where you can participate and you can win, and then, you have the chance to get Steem dollars, or Steem power, or SBD, or Steem, or something given to you if you win that contest.

Now a lot of times, these contests are funded based on participation and based on the post. So if the post earns like $300, or 300 Steem Dollars, then they will award more to the contest. So sometimes they’ll go like, the first three places, get, maybe the first person gets a hundred, the second one fifty, the third one twenty five, or something like that. Then they say, “well, if we have a hundred people participate, boom, we jack up the awards by 20 SBD, because that means they have a lot more votes on the post, which means they have more money to give away. So that means you can really win a lot of money if you participate in these.

And not only that, but if you participate in all these contests, your followers see that you’re participating in the contests, they may participate, which then would jack up the reward pool. In addition, everybody else that participates might see that you’re participating so then they may start following you or start reading your other content, upvoting your other content, which means you can bring a lot of people to your blog through participating in contests. Not only that, but it’s kind of fun.

Some of these challenges and contests can be fun for you to do, fun for you to share, they can help you show people that you’re more loose, or a little bit easy going, or you know how to have fun, you’re not afraid to dive into certain things. You know, do certain things, post about things, open up, Etc. So I really recommend that you start participating in, you don’t have to do it in all of them, nut maybe once a week, or every other week, or couple times a month. Find some kind of a contest or a challenge, write a post, participate in it, share it across your social media, get other people to share it, and you will really start to grow and be more participating in Steemit.

And another times, you can find a lot of these contest in Discord, too. So if you share your contests in there, chat with people, tell him to go look at your contest post, look at your entry, they’ll go look at it, they’ll laugh along with you, especially if you have a video. People love that kind of stuff. Videos of like, there was recently like a Zumba challenge, or sometimes people do things like well, like that ice bucket challenge, or people were filming eating those Dorito chips.

Those are some cool things for people to watch because it adds a lot of humor and comedy, and it shows you that everyone can lighten up in times, sometimes, and that life isn’t always so serious. So they like watching that. So, I encourage you to participate in some contests, because it really helps you out.

If you know of any really great contests that’re happening, feel free to post them in the comments below. But obviously they, if you’re looking through the comments and you see some, they may have already passed, because usually they have a deadline. If you have any other tips on where to find some good contests, maybe like a general database, or Discord servers or something, post them in the comments below for other people. We want to hear from you, and it is great that you guys can keep posting down there and learn a lot from each other.
