When most people write a press release they send it off to several organizations and wait for it to be picked up. Simply put, they hope for the best. This is ridiculous! Think of all the time and effort you put into writing your press release. After all of that, are you really going to merely send it off and “hope” that it gets picked up? I don’t think so. Therefore, this article is dedicated to leveraging your press release so that you can use it to generate lots of traffic for your website.
A press release is exactly like an article. It is something that you wrote and are going to publish on your site, and on the sites of other people. Its purpose is to raise awareness and bring other people to your site. Therefore, because it is like an article you have to market it like an article. To learn how to market articles check out 7 Step Article Marketing For Massive Website Traffic. However, there are a few differences in the marketing strategy with articles compared to press releases.
When marketing your press release, the key is to set up a series of releases over a month-long period of time. This way, your content and backlinks will be popping up steadily all over the Internet for at least 2 full months. Web crawlers will notice that your links keep appearing and will begin to give your site a higher rank. This is much better than doing a mass submission of your press release and having all your links pop up at once with no activity after that. Doing so will do more harm than good, because web crawlers may consider your link to be spam. Therefore, follow the steps below and you will be able to submit your press release with maximum effectiveness.
Structuring Your Press Release
As far as this article is concerned, you have already written your press release. However, if you need help writing a killer press release, take a look at this article. In addition, you may wish to use my free press release template. Once you have that completed, you are going to write an additional press release for each long-tail keyword, or keyword phrase. In other words, if your original press release is on a health and fitness product, then you will write an additional press release for each phrase that can relate to your product. For example, you may choose the keyword phrases: ‘high protein diet’, ‘how to get more energy’, ‘benefits of drinking more water’, et cetera. Create 4 more press releases so that you will have 5 total press releases all centered on your product.
Then, take each press release and re-write it. If you like, you can use a spinning service. However, it would be best to have a human do it paragraph by paragraph so that it looks and sounds natural. If you don’t want to do it yourself, hire a freelancer to do it on Fiverr. When you are done, you will have the following:
- 1 original product-centered press release.
- 4 keyword-centered press releases.
- 5 re-written press releases.
- 10 documents total.
Make sure to publish all of these on your site prior to submitting them to other organizations.
Submitting Your Release
Now, select 10 organizations and submit your first press release to them. Make sure you look for organizations that are closely related to your niche. You can find a list of press release directories here.
Wait 3 days and then select 10 more organizations and submit your first keyword-centered press release to them. Then, wait another 3 days and submit your second keyword-centered press release to 10 more organizations. Every 3 days submit your next keyword-centered press releases to 10 more organizations. When that is complete, you will be 16 days into your timetable and have submitted 5 press releases to 50 press release organizations.
Continue to do this same process with your 5 re-written press releases. Obviously, you are going to run out of organizations that are closely related to your niche. But that is okay. You are going to submit your best press release to the organizations in the niche closest to your product. As your press releases get further and further away from the original press release, the organizations to which you submit will get further and further away from your target niche. It’s sort of like a pyramid from the top down. Basically, the quality of your press release in comparison to the original and the closeness of the organization to your target niche are positively correlated to each other.
In other words, with each consecutive press release submission, you will be getting further and further away from your niche. By the same token, with each consecutive press release, you are also getting further and further away from your original top-notch content. The main thing is that you will be submitting your content to new organizations and reaching out to a vast audience over the entire month.
At the end of 31 days, you will have submitted 10 different press releases to 100 different organizations. Since most organizations don’t pick up your press release on the same day, it also means that for 2 months you will be receiving brand new backlinks that are popping up in several different niches all over the Internet. You will begin to generate a viral buzz all around the links in your press release. Your site will quickly rank up in the search algorithms during that 2 month time period. In addition, it will hold its rank for several months to follow. This is an excellent way for you to boost your site and gain authority when you launch a product.
Sure, it is going to be a lot of work. But ask yourself this: you have already put so much time and effort into your product, are you going to stop short when it comes to marketing your product and getting yourself out there? No, because if you do, your product will die. Dedicate the time and effort into marketing your product. Creating it was only half the battle. The other half is getting it in the hands of the public. Therefore, follow the steps in this article and get your product out there!
